This was to be the longest day of the entire tour, with tough climbing combined with distance. The weather wasn’t particularly kind, so it was certainly a challenge for the team already cycling on tired legs. When the Team eventually reached the border, the weather had brightened and we were able to wave goodbye to Italy.

Once the border had been crossed, Vienna was now within their sights.

The riders took every opportunity to take a welcome break out of the rain to re-fuel and warm up! Once in Austria the weather changed and the team enjoyed some particularly heavy downpours as they made their away along the Austria/Slovenia border.

Stage Breakdown         Day     1    2    3    4    5    Rest1    6    7    8    9    10    Rest2    11    12    13    14    15

Once again the border crossing came at the top of the hardest climb of the day at 1,800m. Over the border though the riding became easier - not flat but no with major cols to cross!

There was no doubt a rush on hot water when the riders arrived at their hotel last night! They may be feeling a little weary after today, but they can feel proud of the fact that they are now in Austria and EASD and Vienna is now just around the corner!
